Increased DDoS protection for our servers

In a DDoS attack, the target servers are flooded with so many data packets that the requests actually addressed to them can only be answered very slowly or not at all.

We too became the target of such a DDoS attack at the end of September. Specifically, our name server infrastructure and our website were attacked.

Fortunately, the accessibility of domains during the attack was guaranteed throughout, since our highly available anycast DNS infrastructure consists of a nameserver network at over 30 locations distributed worldwide.

But that wasn't enough: Shortly afterwards, our website was attacked with a much stronger DDoS attack. Fortunately, however, we were able to take countermeasures early on and thus ensure that our website was quickly accessible to our customers again.

In order to be able to react even better to such attacks in the future, we have once again strengthened our protective measures against DDoS attacks and now have even more sophisticated DDoS protection.
